A Portuguese doctor, one of the founders of a group accused of disinformation about the coronavirus pandemic entitled "
Doctors for the truth
", received a six-month disciplinary suspension, AFP learned Thursday from the Doctor's orders.

The disciplinary body concerned concluded that Doctor Margarida Oliveira had made "
recommendations contrary to the instructions that could harm public health,
" said a spokesperson for the Order of Physicians for the southern region of the country.
Nationally, the College of Physicians said in November that at least four disciplinary proceedings involving nine doctors, including Dr Margarida Oliveira, were then underway.
Dr Oliveira's lawyer, for her part, said she intended to challenge the charges against her.
On Tuesday, this group of Portuguese professionals announced that they were suspending their activity on social networks, where they contested the severity of Covid-19 and opposed the use of masks or the quarantine of people without symptoms.
Across Europe, many doctors have caused uproar over their controversial views on the coronavirus, but they have more rarely been sanctioned by their peers.
In Austria, a “
coronasceptic
”
doctor
was however banned from practicing for having issued certificates of convenience exempting them from wearing a mask.
For the same reason, a German doctor was the subject of a second police search on Thursday in a few months, and risks losing his license.
According to German media, he is one of the leading figures in opponents of health restrictions.
In Serbia, a group of doctors campaigning against disinformation filed a complaint against a colleague who said in the media that the coronavirus was the "
most ridiculous
virus
in history
".
And, in Italy, a doctor was sanctioned by the local health agency that employed him for showing a video in which he advised against getting the flu shot.
