The World Health Organization announced that the number of deaths due to the Corona virus in Africa increased by 40 percent over the past month, at a time when the total number of victims on the continent is approaching the threshold of 100,000.
"More than 22,300 deaths were recorded in Africa as a result of Covid 19 during the last 28 days, compared to 16 thousand deaths in the previous 28 days," AFP quoted the organization's office in Africa, based in Brazzaville.
"This comes at a time when Africa is facing new and more contagious mutated versions and is preparing for the largest vaccination program in its history," the agency added.
The first cases of Coronavirus were discovered in Africa in February of last year.
