The jurors were more lenient than the Advocate General who had requested fifteen years' imprisonment against Kurtis Amaranthe, accused of rape and violence in legal recidivism resulting in total incapacity for work (ITT) for more than 8 days.
The facts were committed between December 1, 2017 and January 28, 2018, date of the intervention of the gendarmerie after the call of the father of the victim.
The investigation of the case revealed violence which had started a month after the start of the relationship of the couple who had pacsé. The man, described as manipulative, had succeeded in taking such a hold on the young woman that he had convinced her to blame her marks on her ex-boyfriend. The young woman, a 19-year-old hairdresser, living in the home of her companion's parents, explained that she was hit when she did not want to engage in certain sexual practices. He had notably tried one day to strangle her and had broken her thumb.
