SEEN FROM ELSEWHERE - Inexpensive and efficient, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) bring warfare into a new era. Turkey is a past master in this type of conflict - it has proven it in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, this new war has many dangers.

The streets are deserted.

Only a few cars circulate.

They cross the crossroads at full speed and burn the traffic lights.

Motorists are too afraid of being targeted by the drones which are constantly circling the skies of Stepanakert, the capital of the Armenian region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as they are called in military jargon, are barely audible, let alone visible.

Their missiles can bring death and destruction anytime, anywhere.

After Azerbaijan launched an offensive against Armenia last September - to recover territory lost 30 years ago - the inhabitants of the region lived in anguish for several weeks.
