In the interview, the pupil's parents criticized the police investigations, among other things.

“From day one, the police committed to our son-in-law as the perpetrator, without any evidence,” Bernd Reusch told the magazine.

The police were unwilling to hear witnesses who saw Rebecca after she disappeared on February 18, 2019, the father said.

"Not even people who exonerate our son-in-law".

Instead, information kept appearing in the media “that can only come from police circles”.

The girl's mother appealed to the perpetrator to come forward and say where Rebecca was.

She feels that her daughter is still alive.

"My faith helps me not to lose hope and to remain strong", says Brigitte Reusch.

In the case, however, the investigators assume a homicide.

Search campaigns lasting for weeks in forest areas and lakes in Brandenburg were unsuccessful.

The sister's husband was temporarily in custody, but the arrest warrant against him was overturned.

The evidence was insufficient to substantiate an urgent suspicion.
