Beyou au Figaro: "The disappointment of the Vendée Globe has not gone away, but I am proud to have conquered my demons"

The skipper of the monohull Charal, 13th in the Vendée Globe, spoke at length on the Figaro-Live plateau. He did not eclipse his disappointment, nor his desire to return. To win.   


He arrived in Paris, four days after his return to Les Sables d'Olonne.

And we felt it marked.

In the dressing room during his make-up, he confessed to us: “I have trouble making sentences”.

The shrink of the fashionable series "in therapy" would certainly draw a clear conclusion, but Jérémie Beyou proved him wrong a few moments later on the set of Figaro Live by confiding himself.

With real sentences.

And his usual honesty.

“I learned to go after myself.

I have been in a fight with myself and have been able to overcome my anxieties and my demons.

I surprised myself, I didn't feel capable of doing it ”, confided the former great favorite of the race, forced to turn around on the 3rd day to repair his Charal and finally ranked 13th at the finish.

Before indicating that he fully intended to start again in the next Vendée Globe, for a fifth participation (after two retirements, a 3rd and therefore a 13th place): “Yes I still want to win the Vendée Globe.

I am even more in love with this race there, and I have a frustration to fill… ”
