The government of Argentina expressed its concern about the presence of a US submarine in the South Atlantic with British military support.
Through a statement published this Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina reported that it learned of the operation through a message posted on the Twitter account of the Command of the Atlantic Submarine Forces of the US Navy.
In the document, the Argentine authorities maintain that “the presence of ships capable of carrying and using nuclear weapons in the South Atlantic contradicts Resolution 41/11 of the United Nations General Assembly (Zone of Peace and Cooperation in the South Atlantic) ».
It adds that this provision calls for respecting that region "as a zone of peace and cooperation."
According to the aforementioned Twitter account, a British plane recently collaborated with the American submarine Greeneville in the open sea in the South Atlantic region.
