US President Joe Biden said yesterday (Thursday) that the corona immunization program he inherited from his predecessor Donald Trump is "much worse" than he expected.

During a visit to the National Institutes of Health in Maryland Biden encouraged citizens to get vaccinated, stating that the administration has purchased an additional 200 million vaccine doses that will arrive by the end of the summer and will suffice to vaccinate the entire population.

"We will not be able to fix everything in the near future, but we are going to do it," he said.

While the demand for vaccines is higher than the amount of supplies available, Americans are having a hard time making an appointment for the vaccine, leaving Biden in the lurch - less than a month since he took office.

The president said Trump, who spent his last two months in the White House in a futile effort to change the results of the presidential election, did not order enough vaccines and did not make enough effort to encourage citizens to get vaccinated against Corona.

According to Biden, his transition team was misled against the supply of vaccines.

"While researchers have done their job and developed vaccines in peak time, my predecessor in office - he says bluntly - did not do his job in preparing for the huge challenge of hundreds of millions of vaccines," the president said.

Brian Morgenstern, a former White House executive familiar with the program, noted that the Trump administration was prepared ahead of time and enlisted the help of many experts who are still assisting the administration.

"Enough of the lies, excuses and political agitations," he protested.

"It's time to lead."

Trump took pride in the rapid development of vaccines during his tenure.

"Trump did not do his job."

Biden said the death toll from Corona in the United States is expected to reach half a million next month.

He urged Americans to wear masks to prevent the virus from spreading.

"We have now acquired enough vaccines to vaccinate all citizens," he said.

He announced that the US government had signed contracts for one hundred million doses of vaccines from a modern company, and another hundred million doses from Pfizer.

Modern CEO Stephen Bansell said that "we appreciate the trust the US administration has placed in our corona vaccine." Pfizer spokeswoman Sharon Castillo confirmed that the company and Biontech have reached an agreement with Washington. By the end of May and a total of 300 million doses by the end of July. "The

new vaccines, plus 400 million doses purchased in the past, will allow the United States to vaccinate 300 million citizens by July 31. Pfizer & Moderna has yet to be approved for children and many are reluctant to get vaccinated.

In addition, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is expected to receive emergency approval later this month. Until the middle of the year.
