Dr. Meier, Prime Minister and Chancellor want to reduce the incidence below 35. Can the value be created in the district?
I think the county will level off around an incidence of 50.
The last few days have been a good example of this: We were already under 50, now we're just above it again.
Because of the new virus variants, which are more contagious than the original, I don't think that the incidence will drop significantly any faster.
An outbreak in a nursing home or asylum shelter would drive the numbers up again.
Keeping the incidence below 35 for a long time is currently hardly possible in the district.
A nationwide incidence below 35 would be a prerequisite for loosening. Your opinion?
I can't tell you where the number comes from.
So far, the 50s incidence was the target because that is the value at which the health authorities can still understand the contact persons.
If there are more cases it becomes difficult and the situation can get out of hand.
I don't know why 35 is called now.
I consider it utopian to want to achieve an incidence below 35 throughout Germany.
That would only work if there were no more contacts.
And that can't be the goal.
Söder's prospect of 35 incidence in March is "unrealistic"
Prime Minister Markus Söder believes, however, that Germany could make it into 35 in March.
I think that's unrealistic.
There will be some counties where the incidence drops below 35.
But also many in which it remains significantly higher.
In my opinion, we will not fall below 35 in Bavaria and Germany until the summer at the earliest, if the infection situation relaxes significantly.
But even that is not certain.
What could be different next summer than 2020?
The last time we had an incidence below 35 in the district was last summer. But it doesn't have to come back like this: at that time, almost no one was tested.
Now many are obliged to test themselves: Nursing staff and travelers, for example.
That keeps the values high.

What can the district do to make its contribution to falling numbers?
Little.
The spread of the virus mainly depends on the number of contacts.
The district can hardly influence them.
At best, he can remind you of the distance and hygiene rules and hand out protective equipment.
But others decide on more far-reaching measures like a lockdown.
Does vaccination help lower the incidence?
The vaccinations do not help with the incidence at all.
All we currently know is that the vaccines prevent severe disease.
But people can still get sick.
We do not yet have any data on whether the vaccines will then slow the spread.
For some it could possibly be so.
But we'll have to wait and see.
At the moment there is no reason to believe that vaccinations will lower the incidence.
How do we get out of lockdown then?
I think politics has to loosen up slowly.
Otherwise the acceptance will wane even among the people who have supported the measures so far.
In retail in particular, the closings are no longer traceable.
