There will be a partial recount of the presidential election ballots in Ecuador, following the demand for this from the two candidates fighting for a place in the second round, the electoral authority announced on Friday.

The former right-wing banker Guillermo Lasso and the left-wing indigenous leader Yaku Perez are neck and neck to face in the second round Andrés Arauz, runner-up to former socialist president Rafael Correa (2007-2017).
