The foreign ministers of Egypt, Greece and Cyprus reiterated the need to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria that preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a statement, following talks in the Greek capital Athens, published today, the ministers affirmed their commitment to the unity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and their tireless support for a permanent political settlement of the crisis there, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254.
With regard to the Libyan crisis, the ministers expressed their strong support for a pure Libyan political solution to it and welcomed the choice of a unified transitional executive authority for Libya and stressed the need for effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement and respect for the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations, stressing that any foreign intervention is unacceptable and that all the agreements concluded In contravention of international law, it is null and void, calling in particular the new Libyan government to consider the memoranda of understanding signed by Turkey and Fayez al-Sarraj in November 2019 as null.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, the three ministers stressed the importance of preserving the composition, character and status of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, reiterating their call for the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions that stipulate a complete and immediate cessation of all Israeli settlement activities, including those in East Jerusalem.
The ministers also stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and sovereign rights and the jurisdiction of each state over its maritime areas in accordance with international law, while condemning any activities that violate international law, in reference to the Turkish regime's policies in this regard.
