These habits tend to last over time.

"

According to a Fevad study published in early February, the sale of products on the internet played an economic shock absorber role for physical stores: online sales of brands grew by 53% over the year, with peaks of + 100% during the two confinements.

Some 1.84 billion transactions were recorded, an annual increase of 5.8%.

The closure of stores and of so-called non-essential departments led to a sharp increase in sales in November which continued in December, despite the reopening of stores.

The peak of activity was particularly high during the Christmas period: + 23% compared to Christmas 2019.

42 million online shoppers

According to the Médiamétrie Internet Usage Observatory, 81.4% of French people bought online in 2020. In the 4th quarter, the number of online shoppers stood at nearly 42 million, or more than 1.5 million additional online shoppers in one year.

The ranking of the most visited sites shows an evolution in consumption: the specialist in second-hand clothing resale Vinted is in fourth place, behind the trio of Amazon, Cdiscount and Fnac.

La Poste, for its part, is delighted with “

an explosion in Colissimo's activity as of deconfinement: + 50% overnight!

Drugs: home delivery on the rise

“We only deal with packages over 30 kg or bulky, which do not go through classic parcel relays

,” explains Guillaume Belissent, one of the co-founders.

They are received on a farm, and the assets only have to come and collect them.

With more than 150,000 parcels processed since our beginnings, a year and a half ago, we are constantly growing: already 170 relays throughout France, and we open between ten and twenty each month! ”

And then there are those who rely on their concierge.

Whose cramped lodge,

"where sometimes three or four people are already crowded

,

"

notes the UDGE building security guard union, takes on the appearance of a warehouse.

"We are more and more solicited by delivery companies who would like building guards to act as relay points

," says Patrick Barbero, director of the legal department.

However, since a decree of 2018, nothing obliges them to take your bulky parcels or your registered letters.

“Except that it didn't change anything !,

exclaims Slavica Nikolic, president of the union.

I have a family of four, every day it's a parcel, if not two or three!

Sometimes it's heavy, and there is no elevator in my building.

But the worst part is that all these large boxes, I find them in the evening next to the sorting bins.

And it is still I who have to rid them… ”
