Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei filed a lawsuit in the British court and filed an application with the British High Court on February 12 to obtain internal records of HSBC Bank (HSBC), hoping to prove that the company's vice chairman Meng Wanzhou did not mislead HSBC.

According to a report from the Guardian on the 12th, Huawei applied for an order under the Bankers Book Evidence Act (provisional translation) to obtain information that they believed to be relevant in HSBC's records.

Meng Wanzhou’s lawyer stated that Meng Wanzhou’s PPT report to the bank in August 2013 was edited in an attempt to make her appear to be misleading the bank about the relationship between Huawei and the Hong Kong company Skycom.

Huawei said that the company asked the court to issue an order to find out who in HSBC knew about Meng Wanzhou's meeting with the bank in 2013, what was discussed during the meeting, and how widely the results of the meeting circulated within the bank.

In the Meng Wanzhou case, the evidence cited by the United States in the past was the PPT file Meng Wanzhou presented to HSBC in 2013.

The US accuses Meng Wanzhou of "lying" about the relationship between Huawei and Skycom, causing HSBC to face the risk of violating US sanctions against Iran.

The Chinese state media "People's Daily Online" once published a commentary in July 2020, alleging that the Meng Wanzhou case was a political case concocted by the United States, and accused HSBC of participating in framing Meng Wanzhou in order to evade the US money laundering charges. Refers to "maliciously doing the bureau, piecing together materials, fabricating criminal evidence."
