It could be one more robbery of the many that happen in La Plata and in the rest of the country, but the characteristics of its protagonist make it an unusual and absurd event.
Despite not having legs or arms
, a young man searched for them to steal a woman's wallet and cell phone in the heart of the Buenos Aires city, although he was finally arrested after a short escape.
The incident occurred in the last hours, when the victim was walking on 6 and 49. According to what was reported by various local media, the criminal, with his amputated limbs, pushed her with his torso, took her wallet and searched for them to steal the woman's cell phone.
Before the gaze and surprise of the victim and witnesses, the thief tried to escape by
crawling on his knees
.
However, due to the slowness and difficulties in getting around, personnel from the First Police Station, together with local police, managed to arrest him after a few meters.
According to
El Editor Platense,
after apprehending the thief, the agents
could not handcuff him
since his stumps are located at the elbows in both arms and near the knee in both legs.
It turned out that the arrested man is an 18-year-old from the Buenos Aires party of La Matanza and that he was in La Plata selling disposable handkerchiefs on the street.
The thief was detained at the 1st Police Station, accused of both robbery and "resistance to authority."
This Saturday will be investigated by the head of UFI No. 3 on duty and could regain freedom.
