Söder quote an "unreasonable", Lindner "pathetic": Corona Zoff suddenly becomes personal

And suddenly a wave of anger breaks out at the hairdressers: The dispute over corona measures escalates verbally.

In essence, however, it is a question of the "system".

  • Wednesday's Corona summit brought a lockdown extension and vague new plans.

  • But the anger against Angela Merkel and the Prime Minister is great.

Harsh words were not only spoken in the Bundestag.

  • Suddenly, the focus is on the hairdresser: inside.

But it's about the principle - and any omissions.

Berlin / Munich - The tone of voice in the Corona crisis is getting rougher.

On Wednesday, Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Prime Ministers decided on a longer lockdown.

And openings from a fixed incidence - which, however, to the displeasure of many observers, is lower than previously targeted.

That there is now a kind of opening perspective may be a hope for many.

The campaigning Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) attested to the population that the people were "broken" after months of lockdown.

But what the German City and Community Day attested to parents in the country on Wednesday also apparently applies to politics: "The nerves are on edge." On the day after the summit, there was verbal sharp shooting not only in the Bundestag - remarkably also and especially among potential people upcoming coalition partners.

Corona in Germany: Söder quote as "unreasonable" - green attacks black, hairdressing plan reaps displeasure

At the center of the dispute is the demand for "systematics" for openings.

And a striking focal point of the debate are, of all things, the hairdressers - whose restart on Wednesday was reportedly fought hard.

Because haircutting, which was soon allowed again, became for the opposition a symbol of a lack of plan in the round around the Chancellor and Prime Minister.

FDP leader Christian Lindner reprimanded after Angela Merkel's government statement: "Many people would have expected more than a fresh haircut." He called for a clear system behind the exit - and presented the plenary again with a "seven-step plan" by the Liberals.

Similar tone of voice also with the Greens: "This recommendation of the MPK-Runde & Bundesregierung has nothing to do with reason and evidence-based decision," said the parliamentary manager of the Bundestag Greens, Britta Haßelmann, with a view to the hairdresser opening in a tweet- Series.

The step makes "vulnerable".

"We need more perspective and planning security for people, a legal step-by-step plan, more predictability and the rule of law," demanded Haßelmann - and with a view to Söder's contribution at the press conference the evening before, became almost a little personal.

"And, Markus Söder: In times of the corona pandemic and restrictions on civil liberties, statements about cutting hair and dignity are an impertinence." Söder had stated that the opportunity to visit the hairdresser was also about "dignity".

Corona lockdown: Brinkhaus counters FDP allegations - "pathetic"

Lindner, in turn, was a target for Union faction leader Ralph Brinkhaus.

Lindner's FDP is trying to capitalize on the crisis: "It's pathetic, Mr. Lindner," the CDU politician ranted.

The polls provided the Liberals with the receipt, he said.

Black-green and black-yellow were thus united in discord seven months before the federal election.

And even in the group of prime ministers it rumbled audibly.

"Unfortunately, it has not been possible to present a correct stage model for all of Germany," said Dreyer on Thursday.

"The frustration" about it was "already extensive".

Opinions about “perspective strategies”, however, have diverged widely and it is not possible to speak openly in the committee, because everything will immediately reach the outside world.

Obviously there is also a problem of trust in the often scolded Bund-Länder group.

Corona displeasure even among prime ministers - Dreyer suffers in the election campaign

Dreyer is in the middle of an election campaign in Rhineland-Palatinate - according to one of the pieces of information poked through from the round, the state elections there and in Baden-Württemberg could have been a part of the reason for restricting the lockdown until March 7.

The SPD politician then also made it clear that politics had to deliver the desired step-by-step plan before the election date on March 14th.

He is currently working on such a paper with Chancellor Helge Braun (CDU).

It is unclear why this plan does not exist after almost a year of pandemic and three and a half months of winter lockdown.

Experts also consider it necessary.

"The lack of a step-by-step plan is very regrettable," said the President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Gabriel Felbermayr.

It would have been "time to clearly show which key figures which further openings are possible".

Immunologist and Leopoldina member Andreas Radbruch spoke in the

of a "not very intelligent" strategy - he missed concepts for protecting risk groups, for public transport and for helpful tests.

Corona measures in Germany: Opposition tears up Merkel's policy - "Pope's attitude of infallibility"

But even that does not stop the criticism of federal and state governments.

Lindner also complained that the Bundestag is still not involved enough: “I advise against letting this deal with parliament become permanent state practice,” he shouted.

Like the FDP, the Greens also looked at economic aid: The people had not received any support for 100 days, said parliamentary group leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt.

"And the help that is coming is far from being sufficient."

The left criticized failures in protecting home residents.

"Dying in the homes is perhaps the darkest chapter in recent decades," said parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch.

The government did not adequately prepare the country for the second wave of infections in October.

She also made mistakes when preparing the vaccination campaign: "We went to the vaccination room in Europe."

Bartsch accused Angela Merkel of a "pope attitude" of infallibility.

And so it remained a bit more moderate than the AfD.

The government is relying on the method of "imprisonment and sealing" and jump with the citizens "as with subjects," said colleague Alice Weidel.
