Crachia Hausham packed 300 shoeboxes full of carnival joy.
To members, friends - and even as far as the Caribbean.
The reason: a former carnival princess.
Hausham
- When the Crachia stop by the

town hall for the end of the carnival season, the mayor usually says: “Key out!” But even the traditional seizure of power by the prince couple fell victim to the Corona lockdown this year.
Instead of the foolish court, only Crachia President Alexander Thamm paid a visit to the town hall chief on Friday.
And this time Jens Zangenfeind didn't have to give anything out, but was allowed to receive something: a box full of foolish surprises.
As reported, the Haushamer Faschingsgesellschaft has come up with all kinds of creative activities to create a little atmosphere in the village during the fifth season, even in this sometimes bleak time.
So also the “Mardi Gras in a shoebox”, equipped with confetti, camels, a DVD with recordings of guards appearances to dance along, a group photo of the Crachia, the anniversary newspaper and even a medal that is usually presented at the Elferrat meetings.
"We wanted this season to be remembered despite all the difficulties," says Thamm.
That is why the clown also wears a blue "Helau" mouth and nose protection on the plaque.
The Crachia sent 300 boxes
The 30-strong team of members of the executive committee and trainers put together 300 boxes, sent them out or delivered them throughout the entire district.
Not only the members receive gifts, but also all those who normally visit the Crachia during Mardi Gras, for example for a performance by the guards or the prince couple.
For example, the hospital, retirement homes and kindergartens.
A carnival box has even made it to the Caribbean.
A former Crachia princess emigrated to the island of Bonaire, says Thamm.
Also interesting: the Crachia’s 911 Council meeting for the big anniversary
The town hall chief, of course himself a Crachia member, is "really happy" about the gift.
And yet he gets a little sad when he picks up the shiny medal.
"Otherwise Ramba Zamba is always in Hausham at this time," recalls Zangenfeind.
This year the carnival procession, which only takes place every three years, would have rolled past the new town hall for the first time.
"We would have been right in the middle of it." But Zangenfeind expects a lonely Shrove Tuesday.
The Crachia box helps to spread at least a "breath" of foolish air in Hausham.
Mayor praises Crachia as a showcase club
In general, the Faschingsgesellschaft is an absolute "showcase club" that stands for solidarity in the village like no other - especially in times of crisis.
The Crachia shows that Mardi Gras is much more than just exuberant fun.
Young and old would work on joint projects all year round.
“There is a lot of interpersonal relationships involved,” enthuses Zangenfeind.
"And that keeps our church alive."
