An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale today hit the capital of Armenia, Yerevan and its environs.
The Russian RIA Novosti Agency quoted the Armenian Ministry of Emergencies as saying in a statement that the earthquake monitoring station of the Regional Seismic Protection Service recorded an earthquake eight kilometers southeast of Yerevan with a magnitude of 4.7 degrees and its epicenter at a depth of 10 kilometers and was followed by several other tremors.
The statement indicated that residents of the capital, Yerevan, felt the earthquakes that struck the city.
