In As-Suwayda, the preliminary round competitions for the governorate championship with chess for the men's category were concluded in the technical committee of the game under the supervision of the Executive Committee of the Sports Federation branch, with the participation of 84 players from various clubs in the governorate.
During the tournament hosted by Madad Club, the first place was won by Naseem Al-Shoufi, followed by Karim Heneidi, and then respectively by Khaled Sharaf, Hazem Al-Shoufi, Mazen Jamoul, Yamen Abu Ras, Aghid Al-Aqbani and Hazem Al-Hajj.
In a statement to the representative of SANA Al-Riyadi, the Chairman of the Technical Committee of Chess in Swaida, Engineer Rifat Khidr, indicated that the preliminary round of the championship was held in the manner of the Swiss League of seven rounds over seven days of competitions and was distinguished by its technical level and the participation of a number of age-group players.
Khader explained that those who obtained the first eight places qualified for the final stage of the Governorate Championship, which qualifies for the Republic Championship.
