The Polish Ministry of Agriculture said today that a strain of the Corona virus discovered in a mink at a farm in the north of the country could be transmitted to humans and vice versa.
Reuters quoted the ministry as saying in a statement, "The data received from the main health inspection department and last year's experiences in Denmark and the Netherlands clearly indicate that the matter also applies to Poland, and this virus can transmit from mink to humans and vice versa."
And orders were issued to execute the entire herd of mink in Denmark, that is, about 17 million mink animals, in early November, after the emergence of foci of the Corona virus in hundreds of farms and the discovery of people infected with mutated strains of the virus.
In August, the Netherlands decided to issue an order to close more than 100 mink farms, after a number of workers were infected with Covid 19.
