Abtissam Maraana, the seventh-place candidate on the Labor Party list, this evening (Saturday) expressed remorse for the post she wrote in 2013, in which she said she did not stand by the siren on Memorial Day.

In an interview with News 12, Maraana said that "I stand by the siren when I'm out. I'm sorry it (the post) hurts every heart of a mother or father or a brother or sister who lost his son."

She added that "this is a very old and miserable status. Today, if I had rewritten it, rewritten it, I would not have written it at all."

Next week, the Central Election Commission is due to hear a petition filed to disqualify Marana for past remarks on Remembrance Day and Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The petition was filed by a group of Labor members, who were joined by the Likud and Tikva Hadash.
