The lawyer for former President Donald Trump, Michael van der Veen, said during the fifth day of the impeachment trial that the Senate cannot set precedents for the process because that could affect the future of the Democratic and Republican parties.
Van der Veen also clarified that Congress would not have the right to judge Trump, since now that he is a citizen and his rights would be limited.
