The branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in Sweida has started farming works within the national project for multiplying potato seeds for the current season.
The director of the foundation's branch, Eng. Wael Al-Tawil, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that the plan for planting potato seeds in the open fields of Aya, Qamreen, Apamia and Shamra varieties has been expanded to include 230 dunums in each of the Hayyat and Al-Mouna sites, in order to produce 800 tons of Super Elite.
The branch manager pointed out that the plan also includes planting 50 net houses in the Khalidiya area with Apamea, Furat and Aya varieties to produce seeds of Super Elite according to a production plan estimated at 70 tons. The stage of self-sufficiency in the coming years.
The national project for the multiplication of potato seeds was launched in Sweida in 2018 by planting 50 net houses in the village of Big Picture.
