The Corona Cabinet today (Sunday) approved a limited outline for the opening of the sky, according to which up to 2,000 people will be able to pass through Ben Gurion Airport each day.

The new outline will take effect on February 20, this coming Sunday.

2,000 passengers a day means about ten full planes.

A narrow-body aircraft has about 170 seats and a wide-body aircraft has about 300 seats.

The planes in this period are usually not full, but at the level of principle it is between eight and ten planes, depending on the size of the plane.

Approval from the Exceptions Committee will still be required.

One of the criteria that will allow entry into the country is departure before January 25, the entry into force of the closing of the sky.

So far, only a few hundred passengers have been allowed to enter the country, mainly because they did not know how to deal with the thing in the face of the isolation in hotels.

Now they will be organized accordingly, and everyone who returns to Israel except vaccinated and recovering will be charged with isolation in a motel.

It is important to emphasize that everyone who enters Israel is required to perform a corona test 72 hours before takeoff and a further test after landing.

This duty also applies to the recovering and vaccinated.

Foreign companies will operate flights in parallel to Israeli airlines.

At this stage, there are 2,000 passengers a day, more than double the number of passengers entering Israel today.

For comparison, from the beginning of February until today, only 5,897 Israelis entered Israel.

It is important to emphasize that in the last two weeks, another 1,000 foreigners with special permits have entered.
