"It was an avoidable tragedy and therefore even more painful. I hope that there will be more care and respect for this new bridge than there was for Morandi. And that all this great energy spent does not lead to forgetting what happened".
To launch the appeal to ANSA is Egle Possetti, today coordinator of the Committee of the families of the victims of the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, the great giant that ran over Genoa, which came down on August 14, 2018, breaking the lives of 43 people forever.
Egle's voice, who lost her sister Claudia in that tragedy, with her husband Andrea Vittone and her children, Manuele and Camilla, 14 and 12, is among the testimonies of "Genoa: the bridge of rebirth", a documentary by Andrea Vogt and Paul Russel who on 15 February at 9.00 pm on History Channel (Sky channel 407) will reconstruct the story of the worst road catastrophe ever to happen in Italy.
And the incredible engineering work carried out in record time for the new Genoa San Giorgio Bridge, designed by Renzo Piano and inaugurated in the presence of the highest officials of the state on 3 August 2020. Among the protagonists of the documentary, survivors such as Gianluca Ardini;
the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci;
Richard Bordoni arrived with the Usar Fire Brigade team;
Giusy Moretti who after the collapse, like other 600 people, lost his home;
and the many managers, engineers, site foremen of the PerGenova Consortium who worked on the demolition of the Morandi and then on the construction of the new viaduct.
"We have confidence in the work of the Public Prosecutor of Genoa - says Possetti - The probative incident should be concluded by March and a decision on the possible indictment of the suspects will be decided. We hope that the times will not be long. We do not want revenge, but justice. Because if the guilty are punished, then in the future everyone will be more careful ".
