Protest for the release of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny refuses to fade: In cities across the country, women are holding demonstrations marked "love is stronger than fear," according to reports in the country's independent news sites.
The events took place in the Far East in the cities of Khabarovsk, Petropavlovsk - Kamchetsky, Irkutsk, Ulan Odeh and began in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The demonstrators create a human chain, carrying flowers and heart-shaped signs, while expressing solidarity with Julia Navalny and with "all the women who face state and police violence."
Among the women mentioned are the spokeswoman for the villains Kira Yarmish, the senior member of the Anti-Corruption Foundation Lyubov Sobol, a member of the punk rock band Maria Elhina, most of whom have recently been arrested for participating in demonstrations at the end of January.
The demonstrators are demanding the immediate release of political prisoners, an end to fabricated legal proceedings, an end to torture during police investigations and the possibility of uninterrupted rallies.
One of the protesters told the independent channel "Nastiya and Ramia" that participation in the human chain for her is "an expression of social solidarity and support for persecuted women, who will see that they are not alone, that we are with them. We see what happens to them every day. They are reported in the state media.
