Amos Givol (64), is one of the two pilots killed yesterday (Saturday) in the helicopter accident in Smok to Afula.
Givol, a lieutenant colonel in the reserve, was a fighter pilot in the IDF until the age of 57.
Givol was a civilian helicopter pilot and a former fighter pilot in the Air Force. He was an experienced pilot, with a very rich flight history. Among other things, he previously participated as a fighter pilot in various operations.

Amos was a partner in the development of a system named after him - a stalk, for the Air Force's cobra helicopters.
Amos was known as a flight addict and an Air Force squadron addict.
Together with Givon, another pilot was killed in the helicopter crash that occurred in the area of Kfar Yehezkel.
MDA teams were forced to determine their deaths on the spot.
Nir, Givol's nephew, paid tribute to him: "He was a unique man, a professional pilot, honest as a ruler and a perfectionist. From an early age he dreamed of becoming a pilot. A true patriot who devoted most of his life to defending the homeland, "Leaving the Air Force because of his age, he continued to fly as a civilian pilot and enjoyed the beautiful views of his beloved country.
