New threat of violence?

US politics is not calming down.

Now there is a dispute over a Trump supporter in the House of Representatives.

It's not the first scandal for Marjorie Greene.

  • The impeachment against ex-US President Donald Trump has ended - with an acquittal.

  • But the controversy over rhetoric of violence still holds the United States under control.

  • Controversial MP Marjorie Taylor Greene is accused of publicly threatening a party colleague - and witness.

Washington - Ex-US President Donald Trump has only just got away with impeachment after long debates about the destructive power of aggressive words - a controversial Republican is making negative headlines with new implicit threats.

The case is particularly spicy.

Because the barely concealed warning was aimed at internal party opponents.

The focus is once again on the controversial MP Marjorie Greene.

She is considered a Qanon supporter - and has already made a name for herself several times with conspiracy theories and statements glorifying violence.

She is also said to have brought a weapon with her to parliament.

Now she is accused of intimidating a party friend via tweet.

It's about Jaime Herrera Beutler, who was recently traded as a possible witness in Trump's impeachment proceedings.

It was precisely this step that Greene took as an opportunity for a written attack on Herrera Beutler.

"The Trump loyal 75 million are watching", the "loyal 75 million" Trump voters have the MPs from Washington state in mind, Greene concluded a tweet on the subject.

Herrera Beutler was a “tool” of the Democrats in the ongoing “circus process”, she also wrote.

Beutler was also one of just ten Republican MPs on January 13 to vote with the Democrats for the impeachment process against Trump.

Greene's statement caused unease in the media.

“Marjorie Greene is outright threatening possible witnesses.

On Twitter, ”wrote journalist Bradley P. Moss while the proceedings were still ongoing.

Herrera Beutler had reported an explosive conversation with the Republican minority leader in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy.

McCarthy had asked Trump in vain to call his supporters back during the storm on the Capitol.

"Well, Kevin, I think these people are more angry about the election than you," said Trump.

The debate fits perfectly with the content of the impeachment dispute - at its core it is about the question of where freedom of political expression ends and where potentially devastating incitement to violence endures the political climate.

However, there is also the accusation that Greene may have influenced the course of the procedure through her tweet and tried to make it more difficult to establish the truth.

It seems questionable that the accusation can be corroborated in view of Greene's reference to Trump's voters - and not to the right-wing extremist “Proud Boys”, as Trump himself once did.

But he throws a spotlight on the deep division of the Republicans.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: Trump supporter continues to rail unchecked even after being dismantled

Greene is an ardent supporter of Trump - and a mouthpiece for right-wing ideas.

The House of Representatives, in which Greene has had a seat since January, voted in early February to kick her out of the education and labor committees and the budget committee because of highly controversial statements.

219 Democrats and 11 Republicans supported this, 199 Republicans were against.

Greene rhetorically follows Trump's example.

After being kicked out of the committees, she spoke of a “tyrannical” government, “hypocritical” politics and accused the media of being particularly good at spreading untruths and instilling hatred among citizens.

Greene praised Trump in the highest tones and said, referring to the Republican Party: “The party is his.

It doesn't belong to anyone else. ”The Republicans could face a split in the face of the dispute over Trump.
