The Russian space agency Ross Cosmos has published an image of a crater on the surface of Mars taken by the probe of the Russian-European mission "ExoMars" in 2016.

Russia Today quoted the agency as saying in a statement that "the photograph of the southeastern side of a small crater located several hundreds of kilometers north of the Giant Hellas Plain was formed as a result of the collision of a celestial body with the planet Mars with a diameter of about 12 km." The presence of many minerals that reflect light in different ways and at different wavelengths.

The statement added that the light indicates the height of the bedrock, which may contain ancient clay minerals formed by the presence of water. In addition, the sandy sediments blown by the winds are clearly visible here, which creates ripples at the bottom of the pit, and their distinctive reddish brown color indicates the presence of iron oxides.
