Commuters between Tyrol and the district are checked at the border.

From Wednesday, the following applies: If you come from Austria, you need an official certificate and a negative corona test.

District

- The terms themselves are complicated.

They are all commuters - of course.

But it would be nice if it stayed that simple.

The cross-border commuter is someone who lives in Germany and goes to work in Austria.

If things go the other way around, i.e. people live in Tyrol and work in Bavaria, they are strictly speaking cross-border commuters.

First of all - for a better perspective on border issues.

The German authorities and the local district administration are currently primarily concerned with employees who are classified as cross-border commuters, i.e. who are based in Tyrol.

Finally, entry into Germany is currently being monitored again by stationary controls at the crossings - around the clock in Mittenwald and Griesen.

Germany has classified Tyrol as a virus variant area after the South Africa mutant is rampant there.

For border controls: District Office should provide a list of businesses

Since Sunday, the entry regulations have been tightened.

Exactly for those working people who work in the district and drive daily from Tyrol, from Wednesday, February 17, there is an obligation to carry an official certificate (in addition to a negative corona test).

The Free State of Bavaria has asked the district offices to compile a list of companies in systemically relevant industries and to deliver the data to Munich.

"Deadline Tuesday noon," says Stephan Scharf, press spokesman for the district administration in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

He can hardly suppress a smile.

Because: The office will hardly manage to send a complete list of cross-border commuters to the higher-level authority by then.

“We'll have to deliver later,” comments Scharf.

The spokesman for the authorities does not consider the required variant of drawing up a list with the companies to be feasible anyway.

"That is not possible for us." A solution has been found in the district office: The companies that employ employees who live in neighboring Tyrol and commute to work every day should report the data of these employees to the district administration as soon as possible by email.

However, it will not be possible to resolve everything in one day.

Because: “The time window is small, and we have to check the details of the companies first.” The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic, which employs a proud 36 people from Tyrol, was the first large company to register.

Gewerbeamt supports health department in reporting

Those responsible had already put their heads together that morning to see how the latest task from Munich could be tackled.

That evening, the ministerial letters with the current instructions arrived by email.

It quickly became clear that the health department cannot cope with this additional burden.

Ultimately, the issue of cross-border commuters landed at the trade office, which already fundamentally supports the colleagues of the health authority in the corona pandemic in legal questions.

Scharf: "And the department will also get reinforcements from the company."

Contact for businesses:

All information is available on the District Office's homepage at www.lra-gap.de.

A form can be downloaded there, which must be sent back by email to ga-bescheid@lra-gap.de.
