More and more children and adolescents develop fears and depression because of the lockdown.

The child and adolescent psychologists in the Ebersberg district are fully booked.

District

- The Grafingen psychotherapist

Annina Hentschel (43)

says that above all fears, obsessive-compulsive disorders and eating disorders have increased significantly.

There is more need than there are therapeutic facilities.

"The children are happy that they have appointments with me, that gives them a bit of normalcy," says the therapist.

School without orientation

The children are open to the corona measures and accept them well.

A big problem is the lack of orientation in the school organization: "I have the feeling that the children don't know what to do with school," says Hentschel on the phone.

That contributes significantly to the psychological stress.

Difference between head and gut feeling

Claudia Michael

from the child and youth psychiatry in Vaterstetten observes an increase in anxiety disorders and depressive developments in children.

Fears of social closeness are particularly pronounced because of the pandemic: "The children are afraid of infecting themselves or someone else," says Michael.

Compared to the first lockdown, the disturbances, especially on an emotional level, have become more and more intense.

The youth lack a social environment, which is why, according to Michael, opening schools should be at the top of the list of priorities.

Around 80 percent of those surveyed spoke out in favor of face-to-face teaching.

Even if the children and adolescents can understand the Corona measures, there is still emotional suffering.

The difference between head and gut feeling is the problem.

Corona is mentioned again and again

Child and adolescent psychotherapist

Tobias Steck

(39) in Ebersberg

experiences it similarly

.

He perceives increased auto-aggression and separation fears in children under the age of twelve.

In the elderly, it is more likely to have depressive symptoms such as feeling low or hopeless.

"Since the second wave, 'Corona' has been given as a reason for inquiries," says Steck.

Isolation from friends and inevitable constant contact with family are very stressful for the children.

Mainly because the circle of friends normally forms an important antithesis to the parents.

The balancing act between the rules that have to be observed and separating from friends who are important is a problem for many, ”he says.

Steck is pleased, however, that most of the children and adolescents have a great understanding of the pandemic-related measures.

The youth want to make their contribution to fighting the pandemic: "This is how you can do it all as a society," he says.

Psychologist

Ulrike Janowetz

from Glonn can no longer save herself from inquiries: "Every week I have about five new inquiries, and I'm already fully booked by the end of the year," she says.

Anxiety and depression have increased significantly in young people.

She also noticed a growing addiction to video games and television.
