One civilian was killed and five were injured when a car bomb exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, north of the northern city of Kurdish.

It is still unclear whether a military base where U.S. forces are stationed near Arbil Airport was the target of the attack.

Security officials said the port was closed and flights were suspended for security reasons.

Kurdish security officials said there was a hit in a residential area, and three people were injured.

Documents from the scene showed smoke billowing from the vicinity of the airport, as well as damaged cars and shattered glass.

No organization has claimed responsibility for the attack, but pro-Iranian Shiite militias are the immediate suspects.

Last September, six rockets hit near Arbil Airport, and the Kurdish autonomous province's counter-terrorism services blamed those groups for it.
