Leopoldo Jacinto Luque, former Argentine soccer player, dies

Leopoldo Jacinto Luque, a former forward of the Argentine soccer team, died on Monday, a source from the Cuyo Clinic told CNN.

Leopoldo Jacinto Luque, former forward of the Argentine soccer team, died this Monday, according to a source from the Cuyo Clinic, in the Argentine province of Mendoza, told CNN.

Luque had been admitted to that medical center for almost a month after contracting covid-19, Dr. Luis Cicchitti, his personal friend, had told CNN, who also commented on the death.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA), as well as several of Luque's colleagues, regretted on Twitter the death of the former soccer player.

Leopoldo Jacinto Luque was a glory of local football.

With the Argentine team he became champion of the Soccer World Cup in 1978, played in that country.
