Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor and Director of the Environment Bureau, Huang Jinxing, inspected the sewage monitoring work for the new crown virus and learned how to find hidden patients in the community through sewage monitoring.

Carrie Lam went to the sewage well sampling point in the Central and Western District of the Drainage Services Department this morning to inspect the sampling process of the staff.

Lam expressed his gratitude to the colleagues of the Drainage Services Department and contractors who silently supported the fight against the epidemic. They had to go to selected sewage wells to conduct outdoor sampling for several hours under very short notice every day to cooperate with the work of the research team.

Lam Cheng and later visited the Public Health Laboratory of the University of Hong Kong. The government expert consultant and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, Leung Zhuowei, etc. introduced the processing and testing process of sewage samples.

She talked to many researchers and doctoral students who participated in the research and worked tirelessly during the Lunar New Year.

Lam Cheng stated that the SAR government has vigorously promoted the development of innovation and technology in Hong Kong in recent years, and the research capabilities and levels of universities are an important foundation for innovation and technology.

She also thanked the interdisciplinary team and various government departments of the University of Hong Kong for their hard work in the past period of time. They remained at their posts during the Lunar New Year holiday and contributed to the fight against the epidemic through sewage monitoring.
