Ocean Park is a very important part of Hong Kong's history. It used to be the most advanced theme park in the Chinese society, but it is now surpassed by various theme parks in the Mainland such as Chimelong and Wuzhen.

The future development plan of the Ocean Park announced by the Bureau of Commerce and Economics and Ocean Park earlier re-examined the park’s positioning and strategy. This is a very good move when other theme parks in the Greater Bay Area are already developing faster and better than Hong Kong. appropriate.

The challenge that Ocean Park faces is whether it can be renewed and revitalized.

One of the most important functions of Ocean Park in the future is to build stronger "soft power" for Hong Kong and become Hong Kong's creative industry park.

Ocean Park is a public organization, and the Bureau of Commerce and Economics is responsible for overseeing its operations.

Hong Kong’s tourism and creative industries, as well as television, film, and media policies, are all under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Commerce and Economics, and Ocean Park is a very important platform for the integration of tourism and creative industries.

If the Bureau of Commerce and Economics coordinates the development of the Ocean Park Creative Industry Park, there will not be a situation where "politics will be mixed."

First, the government must provide a strategy and a feasible and practicable action plan for the creative industry park on how to develop the Ocean Park.

Hong Kong has a science park, but not even a creative industry park.

In contrast, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, etc. all have creative industry parks of various models, and some creative industry parks are even more integrated with new technologies and start-ups.

Entering cartoon characters to help creative industrialization

Ocean Park is very suitable for developing into a creative industry park.

First of all, there are already many things directly related to creative industries in the park.

For example, there are many exhibition spaces in Ocean Park, which require design talents and animation talents to provide creativity, and Ocean Park can also invest in intellectual property (IP) industries by providing exhibition space.

For example, there are many cartoon characters in Hong Kong. Can Ocean Park allow them to enter?

Is it possible to invest in their IP property rights to develop income models for the future?

In fact, Ocean Park has also introduced "Mcmug and McDull" into the station, and the result is very successful.

"Mcmug and McDull" are important cultural brands in Hong Kong, but apart from McMug and McDull, there are many other cartoon characters in Hong Kong that can be activated to become very penetrating and interesting brands.

Ocean Park can use Hong Kong cartoons and animation characters as the themes to develop different games, catering and even life product projects, and through activation to create more entrepreneurial opportunities, so that Hong Kong's creativity can be industrialized.
