According to the news, the National Security Department of the police arrested a man on suspicion of violating the "Minato National Security Act" in the crime of "collaborating with foreign countries or foreign forces to endanger national security."

It is reported that the arrested man is a staff member of a law firm. He is suspected of assisting 12 Hong Kong citizens in absconding. He was arrested in October last year on suspicion of "assisting criminals". Police investigation believes that he was "deeply involved" in the absconding case.

The arrested man has been charged and will appear in court today (17th).

At the end of August last year, 12 Hong Kong residents were intercepted by the Guangdong Coast Guard when they were suspected of absconding and leaving the country. The Shenzhen Yantian People’s Court ruled on the 12 Hong Kong residents case on 30 last month. Deng Zhiran and Qiao Yingyu, who were involved in organizing others to cross the border, were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment. 3 years and 2 years; 8 people including Li Yuxuan were convicted of stealing across the border and were sentenced to 7 months in prison.

As for Liao Ziwen and Huang Linfu, two underage Hong Kong residents who voluntarily pleaded guilty and were not prosecuted, they were handed over to the Hong Kong police by the Shenzhen police at 11 am on the same day.

On October 10 last year, the Police Organized Crime and Triad Investigation Division arrested 4 men and 5 women, aged between 27 and 72, in the case of 12 Hong Kong people absconding. They were suspected of assisting others in absconding. The roles were the shipowner and the "funding owner". Suspected of providing funds, lodging before smuggling, pier pick-up and drop-off, and arrangements for living in Taiwan.

Among those arrested is the man arrested this time.

On the 14th of last month, the police arrested 11 people including Kowloon City District Councillors and lawyer Huang Guotong for "assisting criminals." So far, at least 20 people have been arrested for assisting 12 Hong Kong residents in absconding.

According to the police, after further investigation, the National Security Service of the police yesterday (February 16) charged a 29-year-old local man who had been arrested earlier, one count of "conspiracy to collude with foreign countries or foreign forces to endanger national security", and A crime of "conspiracy to assist a criminal".

The man will be remanded in custody and will appear in West Kowloon Magistracy this afternoon (February 17).

According to the police, since the "Hong Kong National Security Law" came into effect, as of February 16, 2021, a total of 98 people (81 males and 17 females), aged between 16 and 79, have been arrested for engaging in acts and activities that endanger national security. The police arrested.
