2021 will be a year of railway construction work in Schlierach-Leitzachtal.

Most prominent case: the level crossing in Hausham, which is relocated after decades of struggle.

It's going to go soon, and now there is data.

These and other construction sites also mean traffic obstructions - especially interesting for the Leitzach valley.

Hausham

- It was really dangerous for a long time.

The barriers at the Hausham level crossing were repeatedly open when the train passed.

Only several measures on the part of DB Netz AG averted this danger.

However, this happened at the expense of the closing times - also at the Westenhofen level crossing in Schliersee.

Cars sometimes had to wait over ten minutes, which was also a problem for the emergency services and the fire brigade.

After long years of fighting on the part of local politicians, the improvements come this year.

The Hausham facility will be relocated around 90 meters to the north, and the level crossing in Westenhofen will be modernized.

This week the tree felling work starts in Hausham.

These must be completed by March 1st.

The actual construction work in Hausham, announced the leading road construction authority in Rosenheim, will begin on March 15th.

We are not quite that far in Westenhofen.

This is where the threads come together in the community.

As Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU) announced, the work still has to be put out to tender, which will happen soon.

In both measures, extensive hand is also given to the road, which means: traffic obstructions up to full closure.

Hausham has the advantage that the railroad track is flanked by roads on both sides - Schlierseer on one side and Industriestraße on the other.

If one has to be blocked, the traffic can be rerouted via the other.

This no longer works south of the old level crossing, there is only the main road, and because there is a full expansion with a sidewalk and bike path, it will be completely closed for four weeks.

But only next year in the summer vacation.

The traffic in the direction of Schliersee will then have to be diverted over a large area via the Leitzach valley.

The Fischbachauers already have a significantly higher volume of traffic this year.

At the end of the summer vacation, according to the plan so far, the main road in Schliersee will be fully closed for two weeks, from August 30th to September 10th.

Depending on the corona travel restrictions, a wave of excursionists could slosh through the Leitzach valley.

And the same threatens again in autumn.

The Fischhausen-Neuhaus level crossing is being modernized.

Here, too, the road is being rebuilt, which makes it necessary to close it completely.

The road construction department has two weeks in the calendar (November 8th to 19th), the municipality of Schliersee urgently hopes that the holiday season will remain.

But it applies.

"Depending on the course of the measure, these times can shift a little," writes the road construction office.

Further details are still being worked on and will be announced soon, it said.

As reported several times, modernized level crossings and corresponding turning lanes should mean that traffic on the B 307 is no longer congested, which is a problem especially in Westenhofen.

Rail passengers do not have to fear any major injustice.

The Bayerische Regiobahn assumes that no train traffic will be blocked for days.

"Small time windows are probably enough, even at night if possible," says spokeswoman Anette Luckner.
