The Agricultural and Agrarian Reform Directorate in Al-Hasakah Governorate started planting forest and fruit plants in the center and the agricultural nursery in Al-Hasakah city after the completion of the necessary preparations for this in order to provide the needs of citizens, farmers and the Forestry Department of various kinds of plants with good specifications and at encouraging prices after a seven-year hiatus due to terrorism.

The beginning of the cultivation and production of various plantings from the Agriculture Directorate comes within the framework of the reconstruction efforts and work to replace the green cover and forest areas in Al-Hasakah Governorate, which suffered great damage throughout the years of the war on terror from the unfair cutting of trees in forests and the theft and looting of agricultural centers and nurseries of the Agriculture Directorate from terrorist groups What led to its departure from service.

The Director of Agriculture, Eng. Rajab Salama, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that last year the directorate created a center for the production of fruit plants and a forest nursery in the city of Hasakah and its preparation and during the current year and in light of the availability of the resources and funds allocated for the investment of the center and the nursery, and in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, farming operations began in the center. Which covers an area of ​​35 dunums and direct cultivation of approved mothers that have been secured by the Ministry of Agriculture and transported to the governorate, which includes pears, berries, figs and pomegranates trees, which are varieties with very good specifications and high production yields that differ from the varieties in some private nurseries.

Salama referred to the start of planting some cuttings of grape and berry trees guaranteed from varieties that were previously in the fruit plants production centers that were sold to farmers who coordinated with them to provide cuttings and start production directly.

As for forest plantations, Salameh explained that some varieties that are commensurate with the current period of the year have been planted, and there are varieties that will be planted with the beginning of the coming summer and autumn, and the Forestry Directorate will also secure the seeds of trees not available in Hasaka Governorate from other governorates.

In turn, the head of the Agricultural Center, Abdul-Baqi Al-Ali, pointed out that the Agriculture Directorate has embarked on a new phase of work to cultivate and provide fruitful and forestry seedlings to citizens and farmers and the Forestry Department, and currently the center is in the establishment phase, and work will be done to expand agriculture and introduce new varieties.
