A female agricultural and forestry assistant of the Agriculture and Conservation Department was driving a friend's private car out of the car park in Tuen Mun. She was suspected of hitting the gate by mistakenly stepping on the accelerator and hitting a man who was crossing the road.

The female assistant earlier admitted to the crime of dangerous driving causing the death of another person. The District Court judge said today (16th) that she considered the defendant to support her family alone for many years and felt regret afterwards. In addition, she suffered psychological trauma after the incident. She was sentenced to 10 months' imprisonment and suspended for 5 years.

She admitted that on March 28, 2020, while driving a private car at the junction of Tai Fong Street and Tai Hing Estate Car Park in Tuen Mun, she killed the man Tang Kam Wing (55 years old).

The victim did not use the flyover to cross the road

When sentencing, the judge stated that the seriousness of the case was the lowest, and the victim did not use the overpass when the case occurred.

The defendant had a good driving record, supported his family alone for many years, and felt guilty afterwards.

The judge also considered that the defendant suffered psychological trauma after the incident, so she was given a reduced sentence and eventually sentenced her to 10 months' imprisonment and a suspension of trading for 5 years.

The victim was hit by the windshield and then fell to the ground

The facts of the case allege that the defendant drove his private car out of the parking lot at about 8 am on the day of the crime, but the private car lost control at the exit and rammed into the passing victim, causing the victim to hit the windshield of the private car and then fell to the ground.

The private car continued to rush forward and hit the light rail that was approaching the station.

The victim was certified dead after being sent to the hospital, and the defendant told the police that she stepped on the accelerator by mistake when the case happened.
