Bad news for passengers on the Munich S-Bahn: The main line is closed on 16 weekends this year.
The railway announced this on its homepage.
Munich - The first closed weekend starts on March 5th, the last on August 21st.
In the previous year there were “only” six blocking weekends.
The railway has so far been silent about the reasons.
It cannot be maintenance measures alone, part of the blocking period could probably also be related to the construction of the second trunk line.

This is catastrophic news, especially for downtown businesses - because many potential customers will probably avoid the shops in the pedestrian zone if they reopen when the Corona situation calms down.
"Bad news for retail, catering, service providers as well as cultural and leisure facilities in downtown Munich," says Wolfang Fischer, spokesman for the CityPartner Munich dealers' association.
