Irschenberg - The year 2020 is for the time being the last that the Irschenberg community has denied debt-free.

From now on, the budget, which the municipal council unanimously approved in its most recent meeting, is expected to be in debt.

For the end of 2021, it is expected to be 800,000 euros, which will increase to 6.65 million euros for the sewage treatment plant and school by the end of 2024.

For the budget of the current year, the 1.7 million euros that were left over in 2020 and were moved to the asset budget as a reserve will be withdrawn.

This surplus, so it says in the meeting draft, results from an investment backlog.

Many projects could not be implemented due to the corona restrictions or had not yet been billed.

Large sums of money are still outstanding in road construction.

For the broadband expansion, no civil engineering work at all could be done in 2020 - the execution and thus the costs will be postponed to the years 2021/22.

No break-ins due to Corona yet

Business tax was not yet subject to any corona slumps in 2020, but that is no surprise.

According to managing director Irmgard Dinges, the losses will only become apparent in 2022.

For this, the municipality now receives the invoice for the profitable year 2019 - in the form of 2.75 million euros, which are due this year as part of the district levy.

Carefully calculated, the budget for 2021 assumes reduced revenue of 2.3 million euros.

A decline is also expected for income tax participation and sales tax.

In addition, Irschenberg will not receive any key assignments in 2021.

Loan for Wilparting removed from budget

What is missing in the new budget is the four million euros previously set for the new building of the Zum Moar inn in Wilparting.

As reported, the community has now changed its plans and is aiming for a long lease with a brewery.

A decision that Florian Kirchberger (FDP / Active Citizens) welcomes: "It is very positive that the community is not going into debt because of Wilparting." He also supports the new debt because it is for the necessary new construction of the sewage treatment plant and for future investments such as land acquisition .

Economy and economy are now particularly important

In general, it is now important to follow the budgetary principle of thrift and economy particularly strictly, "because 2021 will not be a particularly good year".

Nevertheless, he does not give up hope that the pandemic will be managed so well “that we can then largely generate the important investment rate ourselves”.

The construction of the sewage treatment plant in 2022 will be planned with a supplementary contribution, "but that is not yet set in stone," said Kirchberger.

“The municipal council has to give thorough advice on this, as there has not yet been a decision.” The sewage plant loan is to run for 20 years in order to keep the burden as low as possible.

The largest expenditure items in the current budget year, on the other hand, are road construction with 750,000 euros and broadband expansion with 365,000 euros. The assessment rates remain at the existing level.
