In the two carnival strongholds in the Loisach Valley, mourning is blown instead.

The big carnival procession would have been in Bichl on Sunday and in Benediktbeuern on today's Mardi Gras.

Bichl / Benediktbeuern

- "We would have had perfect weather", says Benedikt Deiser, board member of the Bichler Maschkeraverein.

“Of course it's all a shame.” Although the films of the trains from previous years have been put online, this is of course not a replacement.

Regina Waldherr reports that all of the girls in the guard are also sad.

Two trainers were kind enough to give the children donuts that they could pick up at the local bakery.

The police were on site in Bichl on Sunday.

A citizen had informed her about Maschkera activities in the open air around 1.30 p.m., reports Stefan Sonntag, press spokesman at the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria-South in Rosenheim.

When a patrol was on site, no celebration could be determined, only a few individual Maschkera, who were scattered and at a distance, reported Sonntag.

"There were no complaints."

Because carnival celebrations can generally be expected these days, the police will show presence, also on Tuesday in Benediktbeuern.

"We also think it's a shame that no carnival is allowed this year, but we have to make sure that the regulations on infection protection are adhered to," says Sonntag.

“That's our job.” It is allowed to walk through the village masked - alone, as a couple or as a family with your own children, says Sonntag.

Another person from another household may also be there, but not more.

The police will look into it.

Anyone who breaks the rules will be fined.

Bernd Schöpf, board member of the “Beira Maschkera”, expects that there will be carnival jesters in the village this Tuesday.

“I hope everyone is sensible.” As a club, it was made clear in advance that the “Beira Maschkera” had nothing to do with it.

Schöpf also thinks it's a shame that Carnival falls victim to Corona this year.

The girls in the guard are also sad, but no online campaign will be carried out, reports Veronika Wörner.

"Many of us work normally."

The clubs in the two villages now want to concentrate on 2022.

It's not that easy, says Schöpf, after all, you have to book the bands and music groups for the coming season soon.

“But we don't even know what's going on.” Should the Corona situation permit, one would consider “having some kind of celebration to look forward to” shortly after the start of Carnival on November 11th.

The Bichler Maschkera have completely postponed their season to 2022.

“That has already been agreed with the bands,” says Benedikt Deiser.
