Researchers have discovered seven different mutated strains of the Coronavirus in the United States with a mutation in the same gene expression.
Jeremy Kamel, a virologist at the Shreveport Center for Health Sciences at Louisiana State University, was quoted by The New York Times as saying that it is unclear when these strains actually began to appear, while University of Bern epidemiologist and stomach participant in the new study Emma Hodcroft said, “I would be very reluctant to give an origin site for any. Of these strains at the present time ”.
Experts told the newspaper that additional trials are needed to assess whether these mutations affect disease transmission or infection.
Experts' analysis concluded that the mutated strain, which was first discovered in Britain, is 35 to 45 percent more transmissible than other strains circulating in the United States.
