So far, the TSV Schongau has decided against a premium reduction.

Board member Ralf Konstantin explains the reasons that the delegates' assembly wants to deal with again.

Schongau

- In the autumn of last year, TSV Peiting announced that due to the corona-related closure of the sports facilities and the lack of training and competition opportunities for the current year 2021, it will only charge half the fee from its members.

The enthusiasm for this decision was limited in the neighboring large clubs, as they feared that it would arouse desires in their clubs as well.

TSV Schongau responded to inquiries about a reduction in fees with a letter to its members.

“The situation at TSV Schongau can in no way be compared with TSV Peiting.

The two most important differences are that we have to pay usage fees or maintenance costs for almost all sports facilities, and the licensed trainers receive an expense allowance directly from the main club.

These two positions alone account for almost 70 percent of our annual expenditure, ”Schongau's sports director Ralf Konstantin informed his members.

Assembly of delegates should deal with reducing contributions

He also writes that his club has made great efforts since the end of 2019 to reduce running costs in order to get greater financial leeway.

This includes changing electricity providers as well as agreements with the city and Sparkasse Oberland on cost or fee reductions.

“Nevertheless, from a commercial point of view, it is currently not possible for us to make a well-founded assessment of a reduction in membership fees,” Konstantin asked for patience at the same time.

TSV Schongau wants to wait for the development in the first months of 2021 and then put the topic on the agenda at the delegates' meeting.

According to the statutes, the latter body of the association is exclusively responsible for determining the contributions.

"The board of directors or the association committee are not allowed to decide this issue," Konstantin clarified.

TSV Schongau: Missing new members due to Corona

As far as sports are concerned, he hopes that after the end of the lockdown, which is currently extended to March, he will be able to offer training for the children and young people again as soon as possible.

"Afterwards, the departments will do their best to resume the entire sporting business", promised the President of TSV Schongau.

The lack of sports facilities in Lechstadt was already noticeable in the number of members at TSV.

Konstantin expects a decrease of around 300 in the past year. But that was not due to the exits, which at 294 were around the same level as last year (271).

"We are missing around 300 new members, who we have otherwise had almost every year," said the TSV President about the membership decline from around 12 percent to around 2,200 quite surprised.
