US President Joe Biden's first conversation with a Middle East leader will be with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, White House spokeswoman Jen Saki said tonight (Tuesday).
Saki reiterated the announcement she made on Thursday that Biden would talk to Netanyahu in the near future.
The president and prime minister have not spoken since his inauguration more than three weeks ago, and many have wondered if this indicates tensions between the two leaders, who have a long-standing relationship since Biden served as Barack Obama's deputy and his days as senator.
Biden has talked to this day with the leaders of the powers and allies of the United States in Europe and Asia, as well as with the presidents of Russia and China, America's prominent rivals.
Another point mentioned regarding Biden's attitude toward Israel was when he refrained from mentioning her during his speech last week that dealt with Washington's foreign policy and its relations with its allies.
