Advance voting: the executive's surprise creates a stir

DECRYPTION - For the first time, the executive paved the way for an adaptation of the voting arrangements for 2022, raising strong opposition.


The executive would have liked this initiative never to see the light of day that it would not have done otherwise.

On Tuesday, to everyone's surprise, a government amendment allowing advance voting was tabled in the Senate, where the draft organic law relating to the presidential election is being examined.

And this after having rejected, for several months, all the proposals of parliamentarians intended to simplify or adapt the voting methods to the health context.

The MoDem, for example, proposed from the second round of municipal elections to open the way to postal voting, and relaunched the subject at the end of the year.
