The boss of the Camorra Raffaele Cutolo, after a long illness, died in the health department of the Parma prison.
The founder and head of the New Organized Camorra was 79 years old and was the oldest inmate at 41bis.
It is learned from sources of the penitentiary police.
Cutolo died at 8.21 pm at the Maggiore hospital in Parma. In the last period he had been repeatedly transferred from prison to the hospital ward. In rejecting the latest application for postponement of the sentence, made by the defense of the boss for health conditions, the Supervisory Court of Bologna had emphasized, in June 2020, how his conditions were compatible with the detention. But above all how, despite his age, Cutolo was still a symbol. "It can be assumed that the presence of Raffaele Cutolo could strengthen the criminal groups that still refer to the NCO, groups with respect to which Cutolo has fully maintained the charisma", wrote the judges. And immediately they went on: "Despite his age and continued detention he represents a 'symbol' for all those criminal groups" who continue to refer to his name.
