These are very painful images, a very difficult case.

And I think it's worrying,

”Dominic Raab said on Sky News.

"

People would like (...) to see her alive and in good health, (...) and we would certainly be happy about that,

" he added.

The 35-year-old princess, daughter of Mohammed ben Rached al-Maktoum, had unsuccessfully tried to escape by boat from this Gulf city-state in 2018, before being brought back there.

Her relatives have transmitted videos in which the thirty-something says she is locked in a "

villa transformed into a prison

" with windows blocked off and guarded by police officers.

They say they haven't heard from her anymore.

"

I worry every day for my safety and for my life (...) the police told me that I will be in prison all my life and that I will never see the sun again,

" Latifa says.

Following the broadcast of the report, a spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights told the BBC that she would question the United Arab Emirates about the princess.

Dominic Raab judged that this was "the

right way to go

" and that London "will

monitor it very closely

".

In March 2020, British justice ruled that the Emir of Dubai had ordered the kidnapping of two of his daughters, Latifa and Shamsa.

At just 18, the latter tried to flee her father in 2000 while on vacation in England.

According to Latifa's account, the girl was found after two months on the run, “

drugged

”, brought back to Dubai and “

locked up

”.

British justice had ruled in proceedings between the Emir of Dubai and Princess Haya.

Become in 2004 the sixth wife of the Emirati sovereign, the latter had created a sensation in 2019 by fleeing to London, taking their two children.
