The Government of Panama already has in its possession the second batch of vaccines against the coronavirus from Pfizer BioNTech, after a total of 67,860 doses arrived at the Tocumen international airport at midnight on Wednesday.

On January 20, the country had received a first load, composed of 12,840 doses from the same pharmaceutical company and with which health personnel who are on the front line of battle against covid-19 were vaccinated.
The Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Francisco Sucre, confirmed at the airport that the amount of doses promised had been received in full.
The vaccines distribution process would begin early this Wednesday, he added.

For her part, the Minister of Health, Eyra Ruiz, reported that with this new batch the immunization of the group that received the first doses in January will be completed.
He said that the plan will continue with the vaccination of adults over 60 who are in bed, as well as health and support workers who were not considered in the first stage.
