At least 6 inmates died in a riot registered this Tuesday in the Tacambú prison, in the Paraguayan capital, Asunción, according to the authorities.
Paraguay's Ministry of Justice did not report under what circumstances the deaths occurred and clarified that the information is preliminary.

Speaking to Paraguayan media ABC, the Paraguayan Minister of Justice, Cecilia Pérez, said that the riot was "a reaction" on the part of inmates after the transfer of a detainee that the authorities carried out, they said, after they discovered a plan leakage.
The Ministry of Justice specified in a statement that "it is fully cooperating with the Public Ministry in the investigation and clarification of the events that occurred today."
