An alarming increase was recorded in stone terrorism on Roads 6 and 65 (Wadi Ara axis) during 2020, although there were closures and restrictions on traffic on the country's roads, following the spread of the corona plague.

According to data from the Israel Police, in the past year, 110 cases of stone-throwing occurred on vehicles on Road 6. Compared to 2019, this is an increase, as there were 103 similar cases on the road.

On the Wadi Ara route, which runs along many Arab localities, there were 28 cases of stone-throwing at vehicles during 2020.

There was also an increase in this area, as in 2019 there were 23 cases.

Police data also show that the dangerous phenomenon has spread, in recent years, to major roads in the State of Israel.

The phenomenon of Palestinians throwing stones at vehicles belonging to Jews or the IDF is common on the Judea and Samaria road.

Until 1990, a citizen who was attacked in his vehicle by throwing stones was considered a victim of a car accident.

In the same year, however, the law was changed, according to which it was determined that this was an act of terrorism, and those who were harmed by stone-throwing should be recognized as victims of hostilities.

The data was transferred to the "Honno" organization, which assists civilians affected by terrorist acts.

Advocate Haim Bleicher, a member of the organization, said: "The police response confirms the public's feeling that terrorism is also hitting the main arteries in the country.

Unfortunately, not enough has been done to eradicate this terrorist phenomenon, most of which has been committed by blue card holders.

What's more, the police prevent many of the victims from obtaining hostility certificates for their damage, which again indicates the light-heartedness used in these serious incidents. "
